Awake to your Sexual Awakenings by Mike Hellman

Who doesn’t want to talk about sex? (unless you prefer action) Many gay men are out and proud about their sexuality. We no longer think “What happens in the bedroom stays in the bedroom.” Instead, we are talking openly about it.  So just how do you awake your Sexual Awakenings?

Young gay men have the gift of driven desires and testosterone (Grr!). Those natural desires lessen as we age. We all know some of those sexy Daddies that mature well (Woof!).  Age alone is not the only challenge to awaken our sexual desires. Some of us experience diabetes or high blood pressure where medications can interfere with our natural desires for sex.  Sometimes Viagra, Levitra or Cialis can help stimulate the brain.  If you’re not dreaming about sex and waking with a woody, then you should be enhancing your desires regularly. Building confidence in yourself is one of the best methods to awake your sexual awakenings.

As we mature we also come into our own. We celebrate our survival. We ease into our sexual roles and really start to enjoy intimacy and sex so much more.  We all should be celebrating our sexuality.  We should ooze confidence in our ability and skills celebrating sex.  Do you feel it? I hope so.

Stigma is often a major issue for those who are HIV positive. Unfortunately, much of that comes from within our own community. Come on guys, don’t react like it’s 1984.  Gay men still want to have sex! U=U (Undetectable=Uninfectious) is the new norm.  If you are undetectable or virally suppressed for 18 months or longer then you cannot transmit the virus to anyone else.  So celebrate your sexuality by awakening your desires.  A word of caution, remember that other STIs, like syphilis, are still on the rise in gay and bi men. These rates have doubled in the past few years.  For our discordant partners, remember that PrEP has been on the market since 2012.  If you have concerns locate those resources in your area.  And talk about SEX!

Nothing should stop any of us from reigniting our sexual awakenings.  Whether you are single, married, in a relationship, partnership, triad or “it’s complicated” – we are all sexual beings that should desire a sexual awakening. Namaste Gay Sex Toys is a great place to start exploring (www.namastegaysextoys.com). Maybe you just need to add spice in the bedroom (dining room table, playpen or dungeon). Try something on yourself. Try something on your partner.  How about a cock ring, underwear, vibrator or metal toy? Send a growl on your favorite app “I just received a ______. Want to come over and give it a try?”

Try awakening your sexual desires in any and every way that you can. Keep on trying new things and ideas. Don’t give up. Take a break if you need to but always remember to cum back to play.

Find and join a local masturbation group (www.daburghjacks.com). Create the sexual being you want to awaken. You know you do!
